Terms of service

Terms of Service

Plain-language terms. If you are starting a fundraiser or contributing to one, they apply to you.

Who you are agreeing with

YabisoFund is a community fundraising platform operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo. When the words "we" or "YabisoFund" appear below, they refer to the team that operates the platform.

What YabisoFund is, and is not

YabisoFund is a tool that lets a group of people raise money for a real-world cause — medical expenses, a community collection, a project — by sharing a single link instead of running a manual list. We provide the campaign page, the donation tracking, the sharing tools, and the dashboard. We are not a bank, a payment institution, an investment platform, a lender, an insurer, or a charity. YabisoFund never holds the funds raised: every donation and every withdrawal is processed by our licensed mobile money payment partner, which carries out the operations under its own regulatory authorizations. YabisoFund is the software interface that instructs the Payement Service Provider; Our Payement Service Provider performs the regulated operation itself.

Donations are gifts, not purchases

Donations made through YabisoFund are gratuitous transfers to the fundraiser and the people it supports. They are not payment in exchange for a product, a service, or a financial return. An organizer must never promise or imply that a donation entitles the donor to anything in return. The features donors benefit from (a receipt, campaign tracking, a verified-organizer badge) make donating safer and more transparent; they are not consideration for the donation itself.

Who can use YabisoFund

You can create an account, start a fundraiser, or contribute to one if you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract in your country. We may suspend or close an account we reasonably believe violates these terms, including when that conclusion comes from our payment partner.

What we charge

YabisoFund deducts a platform fee from each approved donation, before the net amount is credited to the fundraiser. The exact breakdown (platform percentage, payment-method percentage, minimum floor per currency) is published and kept up to date on our Pricing page — fees are never hidden in fine print, and the dashboard always shows the gross amount received and the net amount after fees before a withdrawal is confirmed.

What you can and cannot raise money for

You can start a fundraiser for personal causes, family events, community projects, or similar needs. You cannot use YabisoFund for the categories on our prohibited-use list (sanctioned entities, gambling, controlled substances, pyramid schemes, weapons, adult content, counterfeit goods, among others). The full list and the reasoning behind it live in our Acceptable Use Policy. If we find a fundraiser running in one of these categories, we pause withdrawals and may refund donors.

If you are the organizer

You are responsible for what you say about your fundraiser: the description and target need to be accurate. You are responsible for using the funds in line with the purpose you announced. You must respond in good faith to questions from donors and from us. Before your first withdrawal, your identity (or your organization's) must be verified; if we ask for further documentation before processing a withdrawal, you agree to provide it.

If you are a donor

You are choosing to send money to a specific fundraiser based on its public description. YabisoFund is the technical conduit, not the guarantor: beyond verifying the organizer's identity, we do not personally vet every fundraiser before it goes live, and we cannot guarantee funds will be used exactly as described. If you believe a fundraiser is fraudulent, contact us: we will investigate and, if the report is well-founded, pause pending withdrawals and refund where we can.

Refunds

A donation is intended to be final once confirmed. That said, we review refund requests case by case through our contact form in these situations: a technical error took your money without crediting the fundraiser, or a fundraiser was suspended for a terms violation before the organizer withdrew the funds. A refund is issued to the same mobile money number that made the payment, in the original donation currency.

Identity verification

To protect donors, every organizer must have their identity (or their organization's) verified before their fundraiser goes live. This verification exists only to confirm who is receiving the money; it is never used for commercial purposes. What we collect for this is detailed in our Privacy Policy.

What we are not liable for

We are liable for the platform working as described and for keeping our records accurate. We are not liable for: what an organizer does with funds once they have been disbursed to them; service disruption from our payment partner or the underlying mobile money carriers; fees your mobile money provider charges when you withdraw or spend money once it is on your wallet; or the consequences of your own decision to contribute to a particular fundraiser.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms when the platform changes in a way that matters to you (a new fee, a new prohibited category). Material changes are announced by email to organizers at least seven days before they take effect. Minor corrections (clarifications, typos) take effect as soon as they are published; the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes every time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Democratic Republic of Congo. For users in countries with mandatory consumer-protection rules, those rules apply on top of these terms — they do not replace them.
