Privacy Policy
Here's what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control of yours.
Last updated: 16/10/2026
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to everyone who uses YabisoFund: fundraiser organizers, donors and site visitors. It describes what data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your information.
Data we collect
Name, email address, password (stored encrypted, never in plain text) and, for organizations, the organization's name and the identity documents submitted for verification.
The donor's name and email, the donation amount and currency, the mobile money method used, and the transaction reference returned by our payment provider.
The title, description, photos and category you publish for your fundraiser, plus the history of withdrawal requests and their supporting details.
Your preferred language and login session (technical cookies only), plus the technical logs needed for security and fraud detection.
How we use this data
We use your data to: create and manage your account; process donations via mobile money and send you the corresponding receipts; verify fundraiser organizers' identity to protect donors; respond to requests made through our contact form; detect and prevent fraud; and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Legal basis and applicable law
Your data is processed in accordance with Law No. 20/017 of 25 November 2020 on telecommunications and information and communication technologies in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since our donors may be located outside the DRC, we also apply safeguards inspired by international data protection standards (such as GDPR), including data minimization and the rights of data subjects.
Who sees what
A fundraiser's public page is visible to anyone with the link: the name you choose to display, your message, and your donation amount appear there, unless you check "Anonymous donation" when donating, in which case you appear as "Anonymous donor". Your email and mobile money number are never shown publicly — they stay visible only to you and our team, for issuing receipts or a possible refund.
Data sharing
We never sell your personal data. It is shared only with our mobile money payment provider to process your transactions, and with competent authorities where required by law (for example, in confirmed fraud cases).
Retention period
Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Donation and verification data is kept for as long as required by our accounting and anti-fraud obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access your data, have it corrected, request its deletion, or object to a specific use of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our contact form or by email — we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Cookies and session
We only use technical cookies necessary for the site to work: keeping you signed in and remembering your language choice. We don't use any advertising or third-party tracking cookies. The full, cookie-by-cookie list is in our Cookie Policy.
Security
Your passwords are stored encrypted, connections to the site are protected, and access to sensitive data (such as verification documents) is restricted to our administration team.
Use by minors
YabisoFund is not intended for people under 18 without the consent of a legal guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal changes or changes in our practices. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page.
